I have started Sculpting classes :)
Hi, I have started sculpting classes and on the first day my teacher ( Swapnil ) asked me to do anything that comes to my mind , and I did this in memory of my teachers Mr.John fernandes and Mr. K.B. Kulkarni,who are no more with us :(
sooo..( a long sigh ) it was great feeling to play in clay, and it really feels divine :)

hey..gr8 update..cant wait to see how the final thing comes out..all the best..a few questions though
1. was the whole thing spontanious or you planned it(drew it on paper)
2. Is that plaster of paris..
3. did you create a wireframe (armature)for this sculpture.
4. Are you going to color it at some stage.

well,
I did this some thing spontaneous, yes I did couple of sketches. One thing I learnt in this exercise was to draw on the plane on which i am going to sculpt..just like the 2d drawing from the top. It really helped me understand the proportions and area i will need to build it.
So after that just started bulding it with the clay as layers, right hand and right leg were laid out as masses first and rest followed based on what is overlapping whom :)
No armature was used and its a plasticine which they use for puppet animation as it gives more flexibility and easy to handle.
Now the sad part...the sculpture must have been scraped by now so that we can use the clay again :) and that brings me to one more lesson I learned from Late K.B. Kulkarni Sir that when you are learning, in the beginning you need quantity ..you should do tons of work and with each one of these work you will learn and then quality will soon follow, don't get attached to your work, keep improving..learning.
So I am happy :)

oh thanks..i do feel sorry that the sulpture got scraped,it came out beautiful..but then you will do more of those which will be better than this one..i will look forward to those now
